City officials on Friday urged drivers to be patient and prepared for delays during the 109th Jackson Day Race on Sunday.

The run will begin at 8:30 a.m. at Marconi Drive and Robert E. Lee Boulevard, proceed south on Marconi to Orleans Avenue, turn left on Orleans and proceed to Basin Street, where it will make a U-turn and proceed into the French Quarter on Toulouse Street, ending at Jackson Square.

It is expected to finish by 11 a.m.

During the race, parking enforcement personnel will be on the lookout for illegal parking, such as blocking hydrants, driveways or sidewalks, or parking within 20 feet of a crosswalk, intersection or stop sign. Motorists are also reminded to park in the direction of travel on one-way streets and with the right wheel next to the curb on two-way streets.

Some RTA bus services may be interrupted during the race. Details on any route changes are available at www.norta.com.
