Man shot to death on Whitney Avenue

A man was shot and killed early Saturday in unincorporated Gretna, the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office reported.

The incident occurred about 1:30 a.m. in the 1100 block of Whitney Avenue.

A resident reported hearing an argument followed by gunfire. Deputies found a man lying next to one of the apartment buildings. He had been shot multiple times, and a number of spent 9 mm casings were found near his body, spokesman Glen Boyd said.

The victim did not live in the block and apparently was at the apartment complex visiting a friend, Boyd said.

Man killed, woman injured in collision

A 23-year-old man was ejected from his vehicle and killed in a high-speed crash early Saturday on Interstate 10 westbound about a mile before the Metairie Road exit, New Orleans police said.

Just before 2 a.m., police said, Rami Khodr, 29, was driving at a high speed when he hit another vehicle from the rear, critically injuring the 22-year-old woman driver and causing her 23-year-old male passenger to be ejected from the car to his death.

Khodr was driving a pearl white 2008 Cadillac Escalade. He and a passenger received minor injuries.

The female victim was driving a silver 2014 Nissan Sentra. She was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

Khodr was taken to the DWI compound for testing and questioning, police said. The results of blood tests are pending.

Terrytown man killed in crash Saturday

An 88-year-old Terrytown man died Saturday morning after his car was struck by another vehicle at Terry Parkway and Guardian Avenue, the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office said.

The incident happened about 11:20 a.m.

A 2003 Buick LeSabre being driven by the 88-year-old man was traveling east on Guardian. As it pulled onto Terry Parkway, it was struck by a 2011 Hyundai Genesis being driven by a 21-year-old man from Baton Rouge, JPSO spokesman Col. John Fortunato said.

The victim was taken to a West Bank hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the Hyundai also went to the hospital complaining of back injuries.

No citation was issued, Fortunato said.

Man shot while driving on Interstate 10

A man was shot about 3 p.m. Saturday at Interstate 10 and Franklin Avenue, New Orleans police said.

The victim said he was driving west on the interstate when a vehicle pulled alongside him and opened fire.

The man was shot in the foot and was listed in stable condition at the hospital.

20-year-old sought in robbery, beating

The NOPD is asking for the public’s assistance in locating 20-year-old Jeremiah “Bo Bo” Banks, who is wanted in connection with the armed robbery and beating of a 42-year-old man Tuesday inside a residence in the 2400 block of Conti Street.

Police said Banks entered the house of an acquaintance about 8 p.m. and immediately struck him repeatedly in the face with a loaded revolver. He then robbed the victim of $13 and fled on foot. The victim was not seriously injured.

Once apprehended, Banks will be booked with one count each of armed robbery and aggravated battery, plus a probation violation.
