New Orleans police are investigating a murder that happened in Central City early Sunday morning.
The fatal stabbing claimed the life of a 56-year-old man just before 4 a.m. in the 2200 block of St. Andrew Street, police said.
The man was discovered after Sixth District officers were called out to investigate reports of a “man down” in the middle of the street. When they arrived, they found the victim suffering from multiple stab wounds to the body.
The man was unresponsive, police said, and died on the scene. His identity is being withheld by the coroner pending notification of family members.
The investigation is ongoing and police said they are actively trying to determine a motive in the incident. Homicide Detective Wayne Delarge is in charge of the investigation and can be reached at (504) 658-5300.
