Coroner Jeffrey Rouse has identified two men killed in New Orleans East over the weekend.

A man shot Sunday night on Interstate 10 was identified as Jerome Carter, 43.

Carter was driving his Chevy Malibu on the highway near Read Boulevard about 7:10 p.m. Sunday when he was shot multiple times by someone in a car that pulled up alongside him, New Orleans Police Department spokesman Officer Juan Barnes said. Carter’s three passengers were not harmed.

A man killed early Saturday morning in the 7200 block of Willowbrae Drive, meanwhile, has been identified as 22-year-old Brian Jones Jr.

Police said they found Jones’ body in a gray 2010 Honda Civic when they arrived at the scene about 12:20 a.m.
