St. Bernard Parish will close all non-emergency offices at 1 p.m. due to the forecast of possible severe weather.
Parish road crews have surveyed roads throughout the parish and have been working to clear culverts and drains. Parish officials also are working closely with Lake Borgne Basin Levee District to ensure that pumps are operating, spokeswoman Lenor Duplessis said.
Road crews will be on standby to remove downed trees and other obstructions on roadways.
The parish has asked residents and businesses to secure garbage cans and other loose items that could block drains.
Residents should report fallen trees to the Sheriff’s Office at (504) 271-2501.
St. Bernard Transit Bus service will also suspend operations at 1 p.m. today.
Offices will resume regular business hours on Wednesday.
