New Orleans police say a couple of young fugitives left investigators a solid lead after committing an armed robbery Friday morning: self-portraits they took and posted with a stolen cellphone.

The unidentified young men robbed three women about 4 a.m. Friday at the intersection of Touro and North Rampart Street, police said. One of them allegedly approached the victims and said, “This is real, give me everything you got!”

The women — two 19-year-old and a 20-year-old — handed over their cellphones and purses and ran away, apparently unharmed. Investigators got a break when the suspects, still brandishing their handguns, posed for multiple photographs that they posted to the cellular account of at least one of the victims.

Police asked anyone with information about the robbery or the identity of the suspects to call Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111 or 1-811-903-7867.
