The Louise S. McGehee School and Little Gate are participating in the Diaper Bank initiative of the Junior League of New Orleans, which aims to provide 90,000 diapers to help families in need. A grade competition is underway through Jan. 30 to collect diapers and loose change.

The school made the project part of its recognition of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday, which Congress designated in 1994 as a national day of service.
