The St. Charles Parish Library is holding an event to help readers sample different types of books from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the East Regional Library, 160 W. Campus Drive, Destrehan. Readers can drop in anytime.

The Book Tasting event is being held in part to promote NoveList Plus, an online service that helps readers of all ages find books that match their reading levels and interests, as well as find read-alikes for their favorite titles and authors.

“Just like with food, you don’t know if you will like something until you try it!” said Lauren Pitz, public relations librarian. “Librarians will be on hand to discuss book choices and make books recommendations based on your interests. We will have books available to take home as well as a limited-edition reader’s journal for you to take notes about books that you want to read.”

For book recommendations, readers can sign up for the NextReads email newsletter service, which sends monthly emails with recommended titles only in the subject areas that subscribers want. Readers can then request the book directly from the library.

NoveList Plus and NextReads can be found at the library’s website
