Two people were hospitalized after they fell off their floats during Metairie’s truck parades Tuesday.

According to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, the first incident happened around 12:30 p.m. A 24-year-old Metairie man fell from Elks truck float No. 33 as it traveled in the 3400 block of Veterans Boulevard. The rider was “semi-conscious” after the fall, JPSO said, and was taken to University Hospital where he was in stable condition Tuesday afternoon.

The second incident occurred about 15 minutes after the first one. A 23-year-old Lacombe woman on Elks truck float No. 49 fell off the float as it approached the intersection of Veterans and Edenborn Avenue, according to JPSO.

She was taken to East Jefferson General Hospital with apparent minor injuries and was expected to be released soon.
