Ursuline Academy juniors collect nearly a ton of food bank donations _lowres

The junior class at Ursuline Academy recently organized a food drive to benefit Second Harvest Food Bank. The drive was part of the juniors’ yearlong service project on hunger and homelessness. Students and faculty members brought in 1,900 pounds of food including 85 pounds of brown rice, 370 pounds of dried beans, 669 boxes of whole-wheat pasta, 65 jars of peanut butter, 10 gallons of fruit juice, more than 100 boxes of Cheerios, more than 800 servings of fruit cups, 250 packages of Goldfish crackers, 81 cans of green peas and 92 cans of green beans.
