A New Orleans man faces from 10 to 20 years in federal prison after pleading guilty Wednesday to possessing child pornography.

David Morel, 32, pleaded guilty after investigators found more than 2,500 images and videos depicting sexual victimization of children on his electronic devices, according to the office of U.S. Attorney Kenneth Polite.

Morel was convicted of a similar crime in 2010 in Orleans Parish Criminal District Court; he received a 10-year suspended sentence in that case.

He is scheduled to be sentenced by U.S. District Judge Martin Feldman on Dec. 9.
