Funeral services will take place Friday and Saturday for Theodore Emile “Bo” Dollis, former big chief of the Wild Magnolias tribe of Mardi Gras Indians, who died Jan. 20 at 71.
Public visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at the Carver Theater, 2101 Orleans Ave., and from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday at the Xavier University Convocation Center, 7910 Stroelitz St.
The official funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. at the Xavier Convocation Center. It will be followed by a dove release and a traditional Mardi Gras Indian procession to Earhart Boulevard and Washington Avenue. Burial will be in Providence Park Cemetery.
A repast will follow the interment from 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Lyons Recreational Center, 624 Louisiana Ave.
The New Orleans City Council has proclaimed the first day of the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, April 24, as Bo Dollis Day.
