Two men were shot in the leg and ankle Tuesday afternoon in the 1400 block of St. Charles Avenue, where Mardi Gras parades rolled all day, the New Orleans Police Department said.

Detectives were interviewing a suspect “for his possible involvement in the shooting” shortly after it was reported about 4:45 p.m., according to NOPD. Police said the victims’ injuries were not life threatening, but no other information was immediately released.

Tuesday’s shooting occurred about five blocks away from the St. Charles intersection where there were gunshots fired during the Bacchus parade on Sunday night. In that case, no one was hit by the gunfire that erupted near the corner of Felicity Street, and whoever was responsible for the shots managed to run away from the scene, police said.
