Strong thunderstorms that swept through the region overnight have left thousands without power in the metro New Orleans area, according to Entergy.
By 9 a.m., 4,098 businesses and households were without power in New Orleans, according to the Entergy Storm Center website, which tracks power outages across the region.
In Jefferson Parish, 2,694 customers were in the dark. St. Bernard Parish was faring about the same: 2,649 customers without power.
Elsewhere, a couple hundred outages were collectively reported in the River Parishes, according to Entergy.
Still, those numbers are already showing some signs of improvement: An hour earlier, Entergy had “a little over 20,000 customers without power,” the utility said in a brief statement on its website.
“Our crews are already out working as quickly and as safely as possible to restore services,” Entergy said. “If you see a downed power line stay away and call 800-9OUTAGE.”
