The St. Charles Art Guild’s arts fair recently featured four centers allowing participants to explore different media. Ed Gil led swamp scene painting techniques in monochromatic watercolor, Carolyn Clausing provided experiences with painting abstracts on Yupo paper with multicolored ink, Laurie Abadie guided the participants through acrylic painting with a study of warm and cool colors, and Dani Shackelford offered instruction on making designs with pen and black ink.
The participants rotated through the centers, with each creating four original artworks. Each artist selected one piece to be put on display at the St. Charles Parish East Bank Regional Library, 160 W. Campus Drive, Destrehan.
The program is supported by a grant from the Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism Office of Cultural Development’s Division of the Arts, in cooperation with the Louisiana State Arts Council. The grant is administered through the Arts Council of New Orleans. It also is supported by grants from the River Regions Arts & Humanities Council, the St. Charles Women’s Club and the St. Charles Art Guild.
