New Orleans police are investigating four carjackings that occurred over the weekend.
The first happened Friday night in the 7th Ward.
Officer Garry Flot, an NOPD spokesman, said an armed man approached a victim who was inside a car about 11:30 p.m. in the 1600 block of North Roman Street.
The man demanded the vehicle and drove away in it once the victim complied.
The car is a black four-door Infiniti 35 with Louisiana license plate YHX117.
The suspect is described as a black man about 25 to 30 years old, 6 feet tall and 170 pounds. He was wearing a black shirt.
Four suspects are wanted in the next carjacking, which happened about 3 a.m. Saturday at Canal Street and South Jefferson Davis Parkway.
Police said four men stole a 2003 gold Range Rover bearing Louisiana license plate VIX362.
A man driving the Range Rover was stopped for a red light when a four-door burgundy-colored car pulled up next to him. Two men got out and demanded his vehicle while another man pointed a gun at him from inside the burgundy car.
He complied, and the four men took off in the two vehicles.
One suspect was described as a 6-foot-tall black man wearing a black sweatshirt. Police said the second suspect is a 6-foot-tall black man with a light brown complexion, a thin build and short curly hair. The third suspect also was black, wearing a black baseball cap. The fourth suspect was described as a black man wearing black sunglasses and a black hooded jacket.
The next carjacking happened about 7:30 p.m. Saturday in the St. Claude neighborhood.
According to police, a 33-year-old woman was unloading groceries from her car in the 1900 block of Clouet Street when a man came up to her asking for money.
When she said she didn’t have any, the man threatened to shoot her mother unless she gave him the keys to the car.
She handed them over, and the man drove off in her car.
Later that night, about 8:45 p.m., there was a carjacking in the 1900 block of St. Thomas Street in the Lower Garden District.
A 49-year-old woman was inside her 2004 black Chevy Trailblazer when a brown car pulled up next to hers.
An armed man got out of the passenger’s side and demanded her keys. She complied, and he drove away in her vehicle.
Police described that suspect as a black man with a light brown complexion, wearing a dark jacket, a dark T-shirt and a black hat.
The woman’s car has the license plate WMS391.
