A Mandeville police officer rescued a woman from Lake Pontchartrain late Wednesday morning with the help of an unidentified man who ferried the officer, Sgt. Terry Guillory, from the Jackson Street Boat Launch to the woman, who was struggling to stay afloat.
The Mandeville Police Department said it received a call that a woman was in the lake in the area of Lakeshore Drive and Carroll Street. Marine units from the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office also arrived to assist.
The woman was pulled from the water and returned to shore, where St. Tammany Fire District IV paramedics were waiting. She was taken to a hospital for evaluation.
