Archbishop Chapelle High School dance team wins state honors _lowres

A novelty routine performed by the Archbishop Chapelle Hi-Steppers dance team took first place in high school Division III, for teams with 23 or more performing members, during the American All-Star Louisiana state dance championships Jan. 16-17 in Lafayette.

The performance also won the state championship in the prop/novelty category and awards for choreography and technique.

Freshmen Julia Adams and Jacqueline Dantagnan placed first in the high school duet category.

Sophomore Olivia Normand placed third for her solo in the Junior Division, for grades nine and 10.

In the high school officer category, third place went to Hi-Steppers Megan Derbes, captain; Sarah Aleman, co-captain; Francesca DeVille; Lacey LaCoste; Carley Pigeon; and Shelby Swain.

In the high school ensemble category, the fourth-place performance was a jazz routine by Julia Adams, Kaitlyn Braud, Jacqueline Dantagnan, Kacie Dennis, Rachel Dupuis, Celine Milligan, Jessica Starring, Skyla Thompson, Haley Verbois and Ashley Vogt,
