Nearly 20 people have been displaced after an apartment fire in Central City near Baronne and Phillip streets on Monday morning, according to a WWL-TV report.

Around 6:45 a.m., the New Orleans Fire Department said a resident heard a smoke alarm going off then alerted others in the complex.

Several of the nearly 20 units in the building were reportedly damaged. Red Cross is on the scene to assist.
