Two teenagers shot on Thursday night
Two teenagers were shot Thursday night in the 1500 block of North Prieur Street, according to New Orleans police.
The shooting happened about 9:30 p.m.
The victims, ages 18 and 15, suffered gunshot wounds when a group of men fired at them.
They were taken to a hospital, where they were listed in stable condition.
Man shot in foot in New Orleans
A 20-year-old man was shot in the foot about 10 p.m. Thursday at Mazant Street and North Claiborne Avenue.
The man told New Orleans police he heard 10 to 12 gunshots and began running.
He was taken to a hospital by a private vehicle.
Fishing boat hits Causeway pier
A fishing boat ran into the Causeway on Friday morning, injuring a woman and briefly shutting down the northbound span of the bridge.
According to John Fortunato, a spokesman for the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, a man placed a call to 911 around 10 a.m. to report that his 20-foot fishing boat had run into a piling for the northbound span of the Causeway after he lost control of its steering.
The accident happened near mile marker 1.
Fortunato said five people were aboard the boat. The man’s wife was transported to Interim LSU Hospital with injuries, while the others were unharmed. The extent of the woman’s injuries was unknown.
The boat was towed to the Bonnabel boat launch.
Fortunato said the accident is being investigated by the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.
Three arrested for vehicle burglaries
St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested three Slidell men Thursday in an investigation of more than 75 vehicle burglaries in the Slidell area over the past several months.
Detectives were able to identify suspects from video surveillance provided by one of the victims.
Detectives arrested Wayne Fisher, 19; Darren Vine, 17; and Gregory Simms, 20, after questioning them. All three confessed to burglaries in more than 15 subdivisions over the past six months, the Sheriff’s Office said.
They were booked at the St. Tammany Parish Jail on three counts each of simple burglary and one count each of attempted simple burglary.
The Sheriff’s Office also notified the Slidell Police Department about burglaries in the department’s jurisdiction, and the suspects face additional charges there.
The Sheriff’s Office is seeking two other people in the case: Curtis Keels, 19, and Chamar James, 18. Anyone with information on their whereabouts should call Detective Matt Bauer at (985) 726-7844.
Man writes bad check in St. Bernard
The St. Bernard Parish Sheriff’s Office is searching for a man who it says purchased merchandise at a Chalmette business with a bad check.
According to a news release, the man paid for $2,800 in merchandise with a check written in the name of a West Bank company. The check was not legitimate.
The man used the name Jason Johnson, according to the release. Anyone who knows the man’s whereabouts should call the Sheriff’s Office at (504) 271-2501.
