Five men who were in an Algiers backyard were robbed at gunpoint on Monday night, according to a New Orleans police log of major offenses.
Police said the victims, ranging in age from 17 to 27, were in a yard on Westpark Court about 9:15 p.m. when four hooded men arrived and demanded their money.
The men complied and the perpetrators fled, according to police.
That stick-up was just one of three reported in New Orleans on Monday. Police said one 11-year-old was surrounded by a group of boys in the 2000 block of Delachaise Street about 8 p.m. When another 11-year-old boy arrived, he saw the boys surrounding his acquaintance and took off running. Police said one of the boys pushed the second 11-year-old off his bike, took the wheels and fled.
Then at around 4 a.m. Tuesday, a 27-year-old was standing near the corner of Lyons and Perrier streets when three men with a gun approached him and, according to police, “demanded his property.” The man complied, but he was still punched in the face.
