In partnership with the Lake Pontchartrain Basin Foundation, Colonial Pipeline Co. employees and contractors on Oct. 16 participated in the Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana’s Coastal Forest Restoration volunteer event, planting 275 cypress trees in the Caernarvon outfall known as Big Mar.

As part of the Caernarvon Freshwater Diversion Project, freshwater and sediment is diverted from the Mississippi River into the bays and marshes of Breton Sound, where it helps control salinity, combat subsidence and support vital habitat for wildlife and important fisheries.
