Six people were taken to the hospital Monday after a BMW ran into an RTA bus at the corner of Calliope and Baronne Streets.
At about 10 a.m., a late-model white BMW sedan hit the right side of the number 91 bus, which had 17 passengers on board, according to the NOPD.
New Orleans Police Department spokesman Officer Frank Robertson said no citations were issued.
“It happened so quick,” said Truitt Bartels, who was riding the bus to the Walmart in the Lower Garden District. “It was just turmoil.”
Bartels said several people inside the bus were left scraped and bruised by the collision.
Two bikes on the bus’s front rack were bent and broken in the crash. The owner of one, Linh Van Vo, surveyed the scene in dismay minutes after the crash.
“I want another bike,” he said.
