To gear up for youth volleyball season, NORDC will hold a free volleyball clinic with New Orleans Privateers volleyball team from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19, at the Gernon Brown Recreation Center, 1001 Harrison Ave. The clinic is open to girls and boys ages 9 to 15, and registration is not required. UNO student-athletes will teach fundamental volleyball skills and the value of communication and trust in team sports.
This will be the fifth year that NORDC has partnered with UNO to provide the clinic. This training opportunity allows youth to interact with top collegiate athletes who are dedicated to sport of volleyball and development of young athletes.
NORDC volleyball registration is open through Aug. 17 for coed age divisions: 9-10 (sophomore); 11-12 (junior); 13-15 (senior). Brown Park, 5601 Read Blvd. (at the lagoon behind the recreation center). Rides are first-come, first-paddle. Ride with an experienced NORDC team member, or on your own.
