Update, 11 a.m. Sunday: Four teenagers were shot during a birthday party late Saturday in Marrero, the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office said.

Two 16-year-olds and two 15-year-olds suffered non-life-threatening gunshot wounds to the knee, cheek, lower leg and neck, JPSO spokesman John Fortunato said Sunday morning. All of the victims were transported to University Hospital.

Around 25 teenagers were attending the birthday party at Chitchat Rental Hall at 5425 Lapalco Boulevard when shots were fired outside the hall around 11:30 p.m., Fortunato said.

Eighteen shell casings were found on the other side of Lapalco Boulevard, near Bonnie Ann Drive, leading investigators to believe there was more than one shooter, Fortunato said. Investigators believe the shooters exited a vehicle and fired multiple times at the building while standing in the street.

No motive or suspects have been identified. Anyone with information is asked to call 504-364-5300 or CRIMESTOPPERS.
