St. Charles Parish officials plan to test two of the parish’s emergency warning sirens on Tuesday.

The siren near the pump station at 198 Kerry’s Point in Bayou Gauche will be tested from 9 a.m. to noon, parish spokeswoman Renee Allemand Simpson said.

Later, the siren near the Norco Volunteer Fire Department on West B Street will be tested from noon to 5 p.m.

The sirens may sound up to five times over each span, for up to a minute each time. Residents hearing these short tests should disregard them.

If an actual emergency occurs during the testing times, the siren will be activated for five minutes.
