Cyclist robs man on Central City street

A man on a bicycle pedaled up to another man Wednesday afternoon and robbed him at gunpoint, New Orleans police said.

The 53-year-old victim was in the 1600 block of Jackson Avenue in Central City when the unknown robber rode up to him about 1:30 p.m.

Police said the robber pointed a gun at the victim and demanded his property.

The victim handed over his belongings, and the robber rode away.

JPSO seeks identity of armed robber

The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in identifying a man wanted in connection with the armed robbery of a River Ridge convenience store.

The Sheriff’s Office said the unknown robber walked into the Shell station at 9320 Jefferson Highway about 10:45 p.m. Tuesday, pulled out a gun and demanded money.

The robber fled after the cashier handed over the money from the register.

The robber is described as a white man, 25 to 30 years old, 5-foot-10 to 6 feet tall with a medium build and a full beard.

He wore a dark blue or gray knit cap, dark flannel shirt and tan shorts during the robbery.

Police seek suspected bicycle thief, robber

A 23-year-old man wanted in connection with an armed robbery on an Uptown corner remained at large Thursday.

New Orleans police believe Milton Carter stole a bicycle outside a convenience store in the 4100 block of South Claiborne Avenue about 12:35 p.m. May 9. The bicycle’s owner ran out of the store and caught up with Carter near Milan and South Derbigny streets, ordering Carter to give him back the bicycle, police said.

Carter then reached into his pants and pulled out a gun.

“This is my bike now,” Carter reportedly said. “Empty your pockets.”

The victim handed over $50, and Carter rode away, police said.
