NEW ORLEANS —Local business and civic leaders will focus on filling jobs and creating business opportunities for returning military service members as they show appreciation to a group of 10 wounded veterans from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

From Wednesday through Sunday, community organizations and businesses will join forces to honor the Wounded Warriors detachment and mentor veterans through a series of workshops, networking events and a job fair. All returning veterans are invited to the events, including:

Hiring Our Heroes Jobs Fair: 9 a.m. to noon Thursday. The U.S. and New Orleans Chambers of Commerce will sponsor a Jobs Fair for all veterans at the National WWII Museum, including wounded veterans and members of all uniformed services.

Entrepreneurial boot camp: 9 a.m. to noon Friday: The LSU E.J. Ourso College of Business will conduct a session to acquaint veterans with the fundamentals of starting their own businesses. The bootcamp will be held at the National WWII Museum.
