A crowdfunding effort launched Tuesday to help fund a reward for information in the fatal shooting of Tulane graduate Thomas Rolfes.

On Wednesday morning, the GoFundMe page had raised a little more than $6,400 toward its goal of $10,000.

“To help the Rolfes family have closure and ensure this type of violence doesn't happen to anyone else, we are raising reward money for someone to come forward with a tip to find the killer(s),” the page says.

If the money is not used for a reward, it will go toward a scholarship in Rolfes’ memory.

Rolfes was found shot to death early Saturday at Amelia Street and South Claiborne Avenue. Many questions remain unanswered about his death, including how he got from an Uptown bar to a Delta Fuel gas station near South Claiborne Avenue and Louisiana Avenue Parkway, where he was seen on surveillance video purchasing two bottles of water. His body was found about an hour later in the same area.
