New Orleans police said a patrolling 6th District officer arrested an armed robbery suspect in Central City on Tuesday morning.

Police said they believe Quentell Johnson, 40, robbed two people at gunpoint outside a convenience store at 1425 S. Claiborne Ave. about 3:30 a.m. Sunday.

About 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, police said, Officer James Martin recognized Johnson as a suspect in the case. Backup officers were called, and Johnson was booked on two counts of armed robbery and one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Police are still looking for an accomplice in the armed robbery, described as a black male with a light complexion, a low haircut and a medium build. He was wearing a white T-shirt and shorts.
