Two teens are being sought for a murder in the Lower 9th Ward that ended the life of a 40-year-old man on April 14.
New Orleans police have labeled 18-year-old James “Ponnie” Lewis and 17-year-old August Garnett suspects in the shooting of Cantrell Monday, which occurred around 6 p.m. at the corner of Alabo and Marais streets.
Lewis is wanted on a warrant for second-degree murder, and Garnett for armed robbery, illegal use of a firearm and principal to second-degree murder, Officer Garry Flot said.
Police have previously said they believed the killing was drug-related. Police said Monday was in the car with another person when he was shot, and they recovered a pistol from the scene.
