24-year-old fatally shot in Kenner home

A 24-year-old man was found shot to death Sunday night in Kenner, according to a release from the Kenner Police Department.

Police said they responded to a call in the 2600 block of Rev. Richard Wilson Drive about 10 p.m. Inside the home they found the body of Milton “Tony” Sutton, 24.

No suspect or motive has been identified.

Six go to hospital after BMW hits bus

Six people were taken to the hospital Monday after a BMW ran into an RTA bus at Calliope and Baronne streets about 10 a.m., police said.

A late-model white BMW sedan hit the right side of the No. 91 (Jackson-Esplanade) bus, which had 17 passengers onboard, according to the NOPD.

Officer Frank Robertson said no citations were issued.

“It happened so quick,” said Truitt Bartels, who was riding the bus to the Wal-Mart in the Lower Garden District. “It was just turmoil.”

Bartels said several people inside the bus suffered scrapes and bruises in the collision.

Two bikes on the bus’s front rack were bent and broken in the crash. The owner of one, Linh Van Vo, surveyed the scene in dismay minutes later.

“I want another bike,” he said.

Coroner says inmate died of natural causes

Orleans Parish Coroner Jeffrey Rouse said Monday that he has made the preliminary determination that an inmate who died at Interim LSU Hospital on Saturday after being transported from Orleans Parish Prison succumbed to natural causes.

Charles Allen, 59, was placed on what the Sheriff’s Office called “the appropriate medical protocol” for opiate detoxification after he was brought into the prison Thursday. He was found unresponsive on Saturday and was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 7:42 p.m.

Rouse said initial autopsy results showed that Allen died of “a cardiac-related cause of death.” No trauma to his body was observed, Rouse said.

He said investigators from the Sheriff’s Office and the FBI were present at the autopsy.

Central City stabbing victim identified

The man who died of a stabbing in the 2200 block of St. Andrew Street about 4 a.m. Sunday has been identified as Milton Reed Jr., 56.

Police said Reed was found unresponsive in the middle of the street and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Carjacking reported near Bayou St. John

A 37-year-old man was carjacked by two assailants in the 5500 block of St. Bernard Avenue about 1:45 a.m. Monday, according to a preliminary police report.

The victim was sitting in his car when someone walked up, pointed a handgun at him and ordered him out of the car. Then another man with a shotgun entered the passenger’s side of the car. The pair fled in the man’s car, police said.

Boy reports rape Sunday in Mid-City

A boy reported being raped in the 3100 block of Cleveland Avenue about 2 p.m. Sunday, according to a preliminary New Orleans police log.
