Boy, 16, among three N.O. shooting victims

A 16-year-old boy was shot in the leg Monday night in Gentilly.

The shooting happened just before 6 p.m. in the 2700 block of Lavender Street, police said.

A few minutes later, just after 6 p.m., a 35-year-old man was shot in the leg in the 6300 block of Chef Menteur Highway in New Orleans East.

Both victims were treated at a hospital, police said.

Earlier, a man was shot in the Lower 9th Ward before dawn.

The man was wounded about 2:15 a.m. in the 5900 block of Florida Avenue, police said. Relatives drove him to a hospital.

Marrero woman dies days after accident

A Marrero woman died Sunday as a result of injuries she suffered in a crash last week on the West Bank, State Police said.

Brandie Hughes, 35, was driving a 2008 Chevrolet Impala south on La. 3134 when it hit a front-end loader near Pritchard Drive about 7:30 a.m. Friday.

The front-end loader, owned by Jefferson Parish and operated by 42-year-old James Barton, had warning lights and reflective markings, State Police said.

Hughes, who was not wearing a seat belt during the accident, was taken to Interim LSU Hospital in New Orleans, where she died Sunday.

Barton, who wore a seat belt, was treated at West Jefferson Medical Center for minor injuries.

Blood tests for Hughes are pending.

Police book two men in Central City robberies

Two men have been arrested in connection with multiple Central City armed robberies.

New Orleans police suspect Aaron Richardson, 30, and Purnell Luckett, 23, most recently struck on Sunday in Central City.

Investigators believe they robbed a 21-year-old man about 8:40 p.m. near Second and South Liberty streets.

The victim told police he was walking when a black car pulled up alongside him and two men got out and demanded his wallet and cellphone.

Police later saw the suspects standing next to a black Mercury Sable in the 2300 block of Philip Street.

The men were arrested after a brief foot chase, and police recovered a loaded .40 caliber pistol they said was tossed behind a home in the area.

The victim identified Richardson and Luckett as the men who had robbed him.

Detectives believe the pair also were responsible for these armed robberies:

Dec. 5 in the 3700 block of Baronne Street

Dec. 7 at Gen. Taylor and South Liberty streets

Saturday in the 3300 block of South Liberty Street.

Richardson and Luckett each were booked with armed robbery with a firearm. Luckett also was booked with being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Men tie up woman at strip club, steal money

Two men burst into a New Orleans East strip club, tied up an employee and made off with thousands of dollars in cash, police said.

The unknown men got into Visions Men’s Club in the 4400 block of Downman Road about 5:45 a.m. Monday.

The 33-year-old employee told police she was cleaning when she saw a man in the hallway pointing a pistol at her. A second man was behind him.

Police said the pair made the victim lie on the floor, then bound her hands behind her.

One of the men used a tool to open the ATM and they fled with $6,900, police said.

Police seek three in Central City shoplifting

Police are trying to identify three men wanted in a shoplifting Monday in Central City.

The men walked into the Family Dollar store in the 2100 block of South Claiborne Avenue about 9 a.m. and stole about $800 worth of merchandise, police said.

One of the men is described as black with a medium build and clean-shaven. He wore blue jeans, a black jacket with a red design over a red shirt and white shoes.

The second man also is described as black with a medium build and clean-shaven. He wore a black wool cap, dark pants, a gold and black Saints windbreaker, and white and black tennis shoes.

The third man is described as black with a medium build and a beard and mustache. He wore a dark stocking cap, blue pants, a blue hooded windbreaker over a gray shirt and white shoes.

Man rapes, carjacks woman in N.O. East

A woman was raped and carjacked early Sunday in New Orleans East.

The victim was stopped about 8 a.m. in the 4900 block of Flake Avenue when an unknown man with a gun got into her car.

The man ordered the victim to pull over and forced her to perform oral sex on him before he sexually assaulted her.

The victim then got out of the car, and the man sped away.

N.O. police investigate three armed robberies

New Orleans police on Monday were investigating the following armed robberies reported on an overnight crime log:

7 p.m. Sunday in the 1400 block of Elizardi Boulevard, Algiers: Three men dragged the victim from his car and hit him in the head with a gun. They then stole his wallet and fled in his car.

9:40 p.m. Sunday at Clouet Street and St. Claude Avenue: The victim was leaving a bar when unknown men offered him a ride. One of the men pulled out a gun and drove to New Orleans East. They took the victim’s cash, tossed him from the vehicle and sped away.

9:45 p.m. Sunday in the 2000 block of Barracks Street: An unknown man got into the victim’s car while she was sitting in it. The man demanded the woman get out of the car and she complied. Police later recovered the car. They did not say where.

Woman burglarized at gunpoint inside home

A woman was burglarized at gunpoint Sunday night in Algiers, police said.

An unknown man knocked on the door of the victim’s home in the 800 block of Opelousas Street about 8:40 p.m.

The man asked to use the bathroom, then forced his way inside and forced the woman to the ground before taking some of her property.
