A series of LSU AgCenter nutrition classes will begin at 7 p.m. Sept. 24 at the Jane O’Brien Chatelain West Bank Regional Library, 2571 Manhattan Blvd., Harvey. All sessions are free and open to the public. There is no registration.
During the seven Thursday evening classes, Karen Walker, nutrition agent with the Jefferson Parish office of the LSU AgCenter, will prepare seasonal salads and talk about healthful eating.
The class schedule is as follows:
Sept. 24: Make half of your plates fruits and vegetables. Demonstration: Rise and shine cobbler.
Oct. 1: Vary your protein. Demonstration: Salmon patties.
Oct. 8: Physical Activity. Demonstration: Fun fruit salad.
Oct. 15: Make half of your grains whole grains. Demonstration: Quinoa and vegetable stir fry.
Oct. 22: Calcium and dairy. Demonstration: Lite banana pudding.
Oct. 29: Food safety and thrifty shopping. Demonstration: My plate wrap.
