The Metairie Music Club is celebrating its 50th anniversary with a number of events, including a member social Sept. 12 with special guests including Melanie Perez, recording secretary of the National Federation of Music Clubs, and Ken Nelson, president of the Louisiana Federation of Music Clubs.

The social was held at the home of Judge Daniel Knowles and his wife, Bonnie, and music was provided by members of the Junior Metairie Music Club.

The members of the Metairie Music Club are professionals and amateurs interested in making music an integral part of civic, industrial, educational and vocational life in the United States. The club meets on the third Wednesday of each month.
