UPDATE 8:30 a.m. Wednesday: Police are asking for help identifying and locating a suspect wanted for the armed robbery of two women touring the Garden District on Monday.

The New Orleans Police Department released a video of the suspect, who is described as a black man wearing a white T-shirt, khaki shorts and a bandana.

Two women touring the Garden District were held up at gunpoint Monday and robbed of their purses, police reported.

The victims, 25 and 58, were near Philip and Chestnut streets when a man approached them and demanded the bags about 1 p.m.

Across town in New Orleans East, a man standing at Francis and Dwyer streets was approached by a man asking him for the time of the next bus about 8:45 p.m. The questioner then pulled out a gun.

The victim, 26, handed over his property, and the robber fled.
