After a dozen robberies and carjackings were reportedover the weekend, another string of armed robberies were reported from Sunday to early Monday in New Orleans, police said.

WWL-TV crime analyst Jeff Asher said the newly reported robberies bring the total to 17 — 11 robberies and six carjackings — over 36 hours during the Memorial Day weekend.

The New Orleans Police Department reported five armed robberies, including one in the French Quarter, and an armed carjacking in a preliminary offense log early Monday:

--Around 2:40 a.m. Monday, a 32-year-old man was exiting an Uber in the 900 block of Toulouse Street when he was approached by a man who struck him in the face and took his iPhone and $2,000 in cash, police said. Police classified the incident as an armed robbery with a knife.

--Around 4:20 p.m. Sunday, a 23-year-old woman was in the 3800 block of Carondelet Street when a man pointed a gun at her and told her to move aside, police said. The woman complied, and the suspect fled in her gold Hyundai Santa Fe.

--Shortly before 5:30 p.m. Sunday, a 68-year-old man was at Pontchartrain Park at Press Drive and Pressburg Street when a dark-colored vehicle pulled up with four men inside. A passenger got out of the vehicle and demanded the victim’s wallet, police said. The victim complied, and the suspects fled.

--Around 5:45 p.m. Sunday, a 47-year-old man was cutting grass in the 7900 block of Bass Street when two armed men approached and demanded his keys and wallet, police said. The victim told the suspects he did not have either. One of the suspects allegedly punched the victim in the head and face, and then they fled.

--Shortly after 6 p.m. Sunday, a 24-year-old woman and two others exited their vehicle in the Wal-Mart parking lot in the 6000 block of Bullard Avenue when they were approached by an armed man who demanded the keys to their vehicle. The woman complied, and the suspect fled in her 2009 silver Toyota Camry.

--Around 1:50 a.m. Monday, a 27-year-old man was driving near Chef Menteur Highway and Good Drive when he was “cut off” by two men who got out of their vehicle, pointed a gun at the victim and demanded he exit his car, police said. The suspects fled in the victim’s vehicle.
