Coroner’s Office IDs shooting victim

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office has identified a 24-year-old man found shot to death Friday morning behind a New Orleans East building as Darius Bazile.

Bazile was found about 8 a.m. in the 4600 block of Downman Road with a fatal gunshot wound to the head.

Police have not identified a suspect or motive.

Police: Man hit after refusing to buy drugs

New Orleans police reported a 31-year-old man was struck in the face, causing a laceration, just before 3 p.m. Friday in the 800 block of Conti Street in the French Quarter. The man reportedly refused to pay two men who had approached him selling drugs.

N.O. man arrested in rape of child

Tyrone Brown, 24, of New Orleans, was arrested in New Orleans East for aggravated rape of an unnamed child whom he allegedly had been sexually assaulting for two years.

Two men shot Friday night in Algiers

About 7:20 p.m. Friday, two men, ages 23 and 24, heard gunshots at Gen. Meyer Avenue and Southlawn Boulevard in Algiers and then realized they had been shot.

They were transported to a local hospital. Police did not supply any other information.

Three women robbed on St. Claude Avenue

Three women were robbed at gunpoint at 10:40 p.m. Friday at Montegut Street and St. Claude Avenue.

They were approached from behind while walking by an unknown person, who produced a weapon and demanded their belongings.

The women complied, and the robber fled.

Convenience store robbed in Marrero

Jefferson Parish 911 headquarters said the Circle K gas station and convenience store in the 5000 block of the West Bank Expressway in Marrero was robbed about 4 a.m. Saturday.

No injuries were reported.
