For the past seven years a New Orleans couple have been living in a house gutted by two hurricanes and spent their retirement money on trying to fix what they could, WWL-TV reports.

Married for 42 years, Etta and Melvin Baham have been living in a house that lacks interior walls, has a leaking roof, and there isn't even a working sink in the house.

Road Home helped them repair Katrina damage, but when Gustav destroyed the side wall, they used their retirement savings to hire contractors, who they say left the home in bad disrepair.
