Louisiana Landmarks Society recently hosted History on the Move!, a gala celebrating the 50th anniversary of saving the iconic Pitot House. The event included music, food and dancing along Bayou St. John. Patron Party guests had the first opportunity to see the beautifully renovated historic home of William Sonner and Michael Gallaugher, built in 1939 as a replica of the Pitot House.

At the gala, guests were entertained by Deacon John and the Ivories, enjoyed food and wine from area businesses and competed for auction items. Proceeds from the event support the work of Louisiana Landmarks Society, which promotes historic preservation through education, advocacy and the operation of the Pitot House.

Louisiana Landmarks Society & Pitot House is at 1440 Moss St., New Orleans. For information, email info@louisianalandmarks.org or visit www.louisianalandmarks.org.
