The Sewerage & Water Board has announced several construction projects that will affect traffic and water pressure this weekend in New Orleans.
Vehicular traffic on some Uptown streets will be closed or rerouted on Saturday and Sunday as crews repair a series of water lines in the area.
The westbound or upriver-bound lane of Freret Street from Napoleon Avenue to Jena Street will be closed from 6:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. The westbound lane of Freret from Upperline Street to Robert Street will be closed from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
There will be no access to Freret Street westbound from Napoleon Avenue while the work is in progress.
Also, the riverbound side of Louisiana Avenue at Baronne Street will be closed Saturday and Sunday. A detour will be in place from La Salle Street to St. Charles Avenue.
In addition, several streets in the Uptown area will experience low water pressure from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday or Sunday as crews repair several water lines.
The streets affected are:
On Saturday: along Martin Luther King Boulevard from South Miro Street to South Roman Street and along Dryades Street from Napoleon Avenue to Constantinople Street.
On Sunday: along Octavia Street from Walmsley Avenue to Fontainebleau Drive; along South Rendon Street from Fontainebleau to Walmsley; along Gen. Pershing Street from Octavia to South Salcedo Street; along Walmsley from Versailles Street to Octavia; along Josephine Street from South Saratoga Street to Carondelet Street; along Carondelet from St. Andrew Street to Josephine; along South Carrollton Avenue from Tulane Avenue to Banks Street; along Poydras Street from South Galvez Street to South Broad Street; and along South Rocheblave Street from Gravier Street to Perdido Street.
