KILLONA (AP) — St. Charles Parish sheriff’s deputies say a prisoner has escaped from the Nelson Coleman Correctional Center in Killona.
Deputies say 35-year-old Charles J. Conrad III was working in the kitchen at the jail when he climbed over a fence near a trash bin early Tuesday morning. He was last seen wearing an orange jump suit.
Authorities say investigators learned Conrad contacted 36-year-old Erica Williams, of Kenner, allegedly to pick him up. A warrant has been issued for Williams on a charge of principle to escape.
Conrad, a state Department of Corrections prisoner, was being held on charges of armed robbery and second-degree battery and has family in the St. Rose and Kenner areas.
The sheriff’s office says both should be considered armed and dangerous.
