The Jefferson Davis statue at Jefferson Davis Parkway and Canal Street was vandalized with graffiti overnight, according to a report.

The words “Angela Davis” were spray painted near the bottom of the statue, WWL-TV reported. Davis is a civil rights activist who came to prominence in the 1960s.

The Jefferson Davis statue is one of four monuments that the New Orleans City Council voted to have removed in December.
