Harvey — The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office booked a woman accused of shoplifting at a Harvey Wal-Mart to get supplies to make meth with child desertion because authorities said she left her preschooler at home alone to commit the crime.

Kristi Lynn Bergeron, 30, was booked with creation of a clandestine methamphetamine lab last week when a deputy noticed that many of the supplies she was allegedly shoplifting could be used to make the drug.

According to an arrest report, Bergeron was arrested on the child desertion charge later that same day because police discovered that she left her young son at home for hours to get the supplies. The boy was discovered alone by another relative.

Bergeron also told authorities that she was told to steal the supplies by Benjamin Stolz, 23, of Harvey, who was creating the lab. Stolz also was booked with creation of a clandestine lab.
