About 80,000 hungry people packed the Louisiana Crawfish Festival from March 31 to April 3 at the Frederick J. Sigur Civic Center in Chalmette, and that head count is even after Friday evening was rained out. “We had an excellent number. It was so packed Saturday and Sunday we couldn’t fit anybody else in there,” said festival Chairman Cisco Gonzales. More than 25,000 pounds of crawfish were served.

“Last year, we made over $100,000 for charity,” Gonzales said, “and this year should be better.”
