New Orleans police found a man shot dead inside a Hollygrove residence when they responded to a 911 call shortly before 8 a.m. Tuesday.
Authorities have not identified the victim, a man estimated to be in his late 50s or early 60s. Dawne Massey, a New Orleans Police Department spokeswoman, said he was pronounced dead on the scene.
Detectives believe the victim was working on the house, a brick duplex in the 8900 block of Colapissa Street, when he was shot in a rear room. There were no signs of forced entry at the residence, according to Massey.
Multiple shell casings were found near the man’s body, but investigators have not determined how many times he was shot, or when. One neighbor living on the next street down said he had not heard any gunshots Tuesday morning.
