Joharri Walker was sentenced Monday to life in prison without benefit of parole, probation or suspended sentence for the 2014 killing of Stefan Johnson in Marrero.
Walker, 20, was convicted in September of shooting Johston, a 16-year-old student at John Ehret High School.
Johnson was shot in the back in the 1000 block of Carmadelle St. on July 8. He managed to run several blocks after being shot but collapsed on Martin Drive; he died shortly after being taken to the hospital.
A second person was arrested as an accessory to the shooting but the charges were dropped.
Walker was sentenced by Judge Donald Rowan in 24th Judicial District Court in Gretna.
