Police are investigating a pair of shootings within hours late Monday and early Tuesday.

The first shooting, which appeared to be accidental, happened just before 8 p.m. Monday in the 7500 block of Benson Street in New Orleans East.

Authorities said a 13-year-old boy was shot while he and several other people were passing a gun around inside a vehicle.

No arrests had been made as of Tuesday.

In the second incident, a 36-year-old man was shot several times by someone in a burgundy vehicle.

That shooting happened shortly before 1 a.m. Tuesday near the intersection of Law and Louisa streets.
