Members of First Baptist Church of Avondale visited Janlay, Guatemala, over Mardi Gras break as part of a project in partnership with Food for the Hungry.
For two students from John Curtis Christian School, Gideon and Corinne Daniels, it was their fourth mission trip to Guatemala.
“We raise money from working a concessions stand at LSU for football, basketball and baseball games in order to send our members and pay for a project in the village each year,” Corinne Daniels said. “This has been an amazing opportunity for us to come and help children in need.”
This year’s project involved installation of water purifiers in every home, according to the Rev. Marc Daniels.
The group also ran a vacation Bible school for children, held a church service for the community and hosted a vacation Bible school Parents Night.
