Update, 7:45 a.m. Monday: A 25-year-old man was found fatally shot after a car crash Sunday, and the driver of the car sustained injuries, police said.

Around 8 p.m., New Orleans police officers responded to a call of a man shot in the 2600 block of General Collins Avenue, the New Orleans Police Department said in a news release. When officers arrived, they found that a silver Nissan Altima had struck a parked Ford truck, NOPD said.

A 25-year-old man was found fatally shot inside the Altima, NOPD said. According to a preliminary offense log, the victim was sitting in the passenger seat when someone in the back seat started shooting.

The driver of the car, a 20-year-old man, was injured when the Altima hit a pole.

The driver was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.

Detectives are questioning the driver, NOPD said.

One person is dead and another person is injured after a shooting and car accident in Algiers Sunday night, New Orleans Police said.

The shooting occurred around 8 p.m. Sunday night on the 2600 block of General Collins Avenue, NOPD spokesman Garry Flot said.

One victim died from fatal gunshot wounds inside a car, Flot said, and the second victim sustained injuries from a car crash.
